How to Edit a Pressure Pipe Catalog in Civil 3D (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Locate the Pressure Pipe Catalog Folder
Go to the Civil 3D pressure pipe catalog location on your computer.
Typical path:
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2025\enu\Pressure Pipes Catalog\Metric\
Find the folder named "Metric_AWWA_PushOn".
Step 2: Copy the Catalog Folder and SQL File
Copy the "Metric_AWWA_PushOn" folder and the corresponding Metric_AWWA_PushOn.sdf (SQL database file).
Paste the copied folder and file into the same or another location.
Step 3: Rename the Folder and SQL File
Rename the copied folder and SQL file to your custom catalog name.
Example:
Folder: Metric_GRP_Pipes
SQL File: Metric_GRP_Pipes.sdf
Important: Folder name and SQL file name must match exactly.
Step 4: Open Content Catalog Editor
Launch Content Catalog Editor (installed with Civil 3D).
(You can search for Content Catalog Editor in your Windows Start Menu.)
Step 5: Open the Renamed Catalog
In Content Catalog Editor:
Click File → Open Catalog.
Browse and open your newly renamed SQL file (e.g., Metric_GRP_Pipes.sdf).
Step 6: Customize the Catalog
Now you can edit the following:
Pipe Materials (Change to GRP or any other material).
Pipe Sizes and Pressure Classes.
Manufacturer Information.
Descriptions and Internal/External Diameters.
You can edit existing entries or add new parts if needed.
Step 7: Save the Edited Catalog
After customization, save your catalog:
Click File → Save.
Step 8: Set Civil 3D to Use Your Custom Catalog
In Civil 3D:
Go to Home tab → Create Design panel → Set Pressure Network Catalog.
Set the Pressure Pipe Catalog to your new custom folder (Metric_GRP_Pipes).
Step 9: Test the Catalog in Civil 3D
Create a small pressure pipe network:
Choose your new catalog parts.
Draw some pipes and fittings.
Check if your customized names, sizes, and materials are showing properly.
Step 10: Done!
